I have recently signed on with Anthony Morganti's mentoring program. His insights, critiques and assignments to improve my photography have been great!
It's the little things!

It seems as though somebody once said: “It’s the little things in life that really matter.” Then again we’ve all heard the saying, “Don’t sweat the small stuff…and it’s all small stuff.” Well if that’s the case then you’ve just gotta love the beauty and intricacy of life that you can see and capture through a macro lens!
When it comes to my photography I love color, patterns, textures and surprises! When I put a macro lens on the camera a whole new world of beauty comes into focus.
I have to admit that for quite a while I have been a bit frustrated with my macro lens because it just felt as if I couldn’t get close enough. Yes, I could get the shot but in order to produce the image I had imagined I’d have to crop the living daylights out of the photo. Then when what was left was enlarged it just wasn’t sharp enough (read…pixilation). What to do…what to do?
The answer arrived in a beautiful little box from B & H Photo (there’s always an excuse to buy more equipment!) which contained a Canon Extension Tube. After mounting that little puppy between my Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro lens and my Canon 7D with its 18 megapixel cropped sensor providing a tad bit more magnification…I was in business! Of course, now that I can get REALLY close there are other challenges like the gentle breeze that suddenly appears to be hurricane force winds through the viewfinder not to mention the inevitable camera shake because who in the world can hold a camera still with that kind of magnification?! But a challenge can be fun and that’s why we have tri-pods and remote shutter releases!
It’s the little things that really matter and now I know that a dragonfly’s tongue has little barbs on it…who knew!?

In October and November I always travel to Nantucket and Vermont to close up houses and needless to say the cameras go along. I was in Vermont on Veterans Day and was struck by the flags honoring veterans of the Civil War. One vet was killed at Gettysburg and is buried there but the family erected a stone in Vermont to remember him...powerful. When on Nantucket I love photographing those things that bring the island its unique character.

Just finished leading my first photography workshop and had a great time!! It's all about seeing...feeling...engaging...and understanding the equipment we use and feeling comfortable with the equipment! The more we use our cameras...the more comfortable and knowledgeable we are...shoot...shoot...shoot!!

There's nothing like a trip to the West to bring life and excitement to one's photogpaphy. Really any change of scenery or pattern does the trick! It's taken me almost 6 weeks to pick and choose but I've finally posted some of my favorites in my "New Photos" Gallery! Hope you enjoy...I did!!

It is amazing how a quick trip to a place you love with a bit of camera gear can create some wonderful photos. Vermont...cameras...and a beautiful day equals...photos! They'll show up on the New Photos Gallery soon!

I had the pleasure today of putting together a package for the Stivers School for the Arts in Dayton, Ohio. It's a magnet school and they're having an auction to benefit the photography department. A student contacted me through the website asking me to donate a photo or two. Checked out the school and I'm impressed and happy to help out.

Following on the heels of his successful one-man exhibition at the Belknap Mill Gallery in Laconia entitled "Framing the Sacred", Warren embarked on a three month sabbatical exploring photograpy as spiritual practice. During the time away from his duties as Senior Pastor of the Congregational Church of Laconia, United Church of Christ, Warren, in addition to extensive reading in the fields of spirituality and photography participated in workshops in both Dubois, Wyoming (led by Wildlife Photographer, Scott Copeland) and Star Island, New Hampshire (led by long-time New Hampshire Photographer, Peter Randall).
